اردو په ټوله نړۍ کې د 70 ملیون څخه ډیر خلک خبرې کوي. دا د پاکستان رسمي ژبه ده او په هند کې یوه له مهمو ژبو څخه ده. سربیره پردې، دا د نړۍ په مختلفو هیوادونو کې د اردو ژبو ټولنو لخوا هم ویل کیږي.
له بلې خوا پښتو په ټوله نړۍ کې د 51 میلیونو څخه ډیر خلک د مورنۍ ژبې په توګه خبرې کوي. یوازې په افغانستان کې د ټولو پښتو ویونکو شاوخوا 52 سلنه برخه لري او دا رسمي ژبه ده. دا د پاکستان په خیبر پښتونخوا او بلوچستان او د افغانستان په مختلفو ولایتونو کې د پښتنو په سیمه کې ویل کیږي.
اردو او پښتو دوه جلا ژبې دي. اردو د هند آریایي ژبې پورې اړه لري او اکثره د هند په نیمه وچه کې ویل کیږي. پښتو د شرقي ايراني ژبو له ډلې څخه ده او د افغانستان او پاکستان په پښتني سيمو کې ويل کيږي.
د ګرامر له نظره، اردو د موضوع-فعال-فعل جملې جوړښت تعقیبوي، په داسې حال کې چې پښتو د موضوع-فعل-موضوع جملې جوړښت تعقیبوي. د مثال په توګه، "زه یوه مڼه خورم" جمله به په اردو کې د "مین سب کھاتی هو" په توګه ژباړل شي، پداسې حال کې چې په پښتو کې دا د "زاب خام" په توګه ژباړل کیږي. برسېره پردې، دا ژبې د فعل ځای پرځای کولو، ضمیرونو، جمع ډولونو او ضمیر موافقت له مخې هم توپیر لري.
د دې توپیرونو سره سره، دواړه ژبې یو شان ورته والی لري. د مثال په توګه، اردو او پښتو دواړه د مشرانو سره د خبرو کولو په وخت کې د درناوي ښودلو لپاره د عزت کلمې کاروي. په اردو کې د عزت "جناب" (جناب) د چا د درناوي لپاره کارول کیږي، پداسې حال کې چې په پښتو کې د عزت "خان" (خان) کارول کیږي. د بېلګې په توګه په اردو کې د چا د "علي" پر ځای د درناوي لپاره "جناب علي" وکاروئ او په پښتو کې د "احمد" پر ځای "احمد خان" وکاروئ.
د خپلو ژبو تر څنګ، پاکستاني او افغاني کلتورونه هم یو شمېر ورته والی لري. پدې کې د مشرانو درناوی کول، د جشنونو او ځانګړو مراسمو لمانځل، د دودیزو جامو اغوستل لکه د شلوار قمیص او خواړه شامل دي.
